As part of the “Taste and health meetings” project, the CCAS (Communal Social Action Center) of Fenouillet, in partnership with Nutrimania, offered eight dietetic and nutrition workshops, free of charge to people over 60 years old.
Marina Feucher, dietitian nutritionist based in Saint-Alban, gave advice and tips to put into practice on a daily basis so that participants can adopt a diet favorable to their health. Different themes were addressed through the five senses thanks to tastings of local foods and “homemade” dishes with the aim of maintaining or rediscovering the pleasure associated with food. Among the workshops offered, participants were able to imagine themselves in the workshops “Hydrate well every day”, “Starchy foods, essential at all ages”, “Protect your bone capital with dairy products”, “The health benefits of fruits and vegetables”, “Proteins, the best friends of muscles”, “Cook healthy, buy smart”, “Feel good about your weight and your sneakers after 60”, or even “My diet, my health” in the common room from the Fenouillet senior residence.
The dietitian nutritionist was able to answer questions about different diets and dietary constraints. Participants found answers to questions such as: how to avoid sarcopenia? How to maintain muscle mass? Each session ended with the tasting of a recipe made together.
“For the first time in this residence, everything went well,” the dietitian could confide. “The workshops were all complete and the participants had a strong desire to repeat these gatherings. The last session was very warm with a dish brought by each participant.”
