Benjamin Maréchal’s tests: match between solid and liquid soap, here is which one is the least expensive

To clean themselves, there are those who prefer liquid soap and others who prefer to use solid soap. This market represents 20 million euros per year in Belgium and is slowly increasing a little more each year. So which one to choose?

Benjamin Maréchal and his team carried out the investigation to determine which soap was the least expensive, in terms of cost per shower, between the brick version and the gel version of the Sanex brand.

Benjamin was able to take 28 showers with the soap bar, and only 18 showers with the Sanex gel. After using both types of soap for several showers, the results showed that solid soap was less expensive than liquid soap.

This surprising experiment revealed differences between the two soaps, highlighting a major economic issue. The solid soap at €4.99 is cheaper, costing 17 cents per shower, while the gel at €6.99 costs double, or 38 cents per shower.

Per year, the difference is even greater: a brick of soap costs €62 while shower gel costs €139 per year.
