For the DéFi party, the municipal elections will be important, especially in Brussels, where its roots are historic. Dr. Nicolas Clumeck, psychiatrist, 31st on the mayor’s list in Uccle, is currently DéFi municipal councilor.

“This is my second campaign. I was elected in 2018. This very positive experience allowed me to take a different look, particularly during the Covid crisis. I got involved at the municipal level to give advice on the distribution of masks, the social taxi for accessibility to vaccines for the elderly, disabled or people with mobility difficulties…”

The doctors’ vision

Medical director at the Domaine-ULB-Erasme hospital center, he insists on the specificity of doctors: “It is essential that among the elected officials, doctors can sit. As caregivers, we have a particularly human vision, with great sensitivity to the well-being and health of individuals, which can provide a complementary perspective, contributing to more human management of the municipality. »
He leads his fight on several levels: “We live in an aging community with an elderly population. We must think about accessibility for all, able-bodied and disabled, to services, but also about the problem of the digital divide, so that our elders do not feel excluded. I also campaign a lot for consistent mobility. The last MR-Ecolo majority has taken positive actions to develop soft mobility. However, our line for the next legislature is to improve mobility for everyone… Like, for example, continuing to develop cycle paths without removing parking spaces. We must not stigmatize the car. »

Prevention

Its investment also concerns housing, cleanliness and security. “Everyone must feel safe, with good collaboration and a good police presence. For example, through the development of local prevention partnerships which would allow us to be more vigilant regarding everyone’s safety. At the same time, we must also continue to invest in biodiversity and the environmental wealth of Uccle, with parks and gardens. We must preserve this heritage. »

As a doctor, he takes his prevention role very seriously in his actions and his calls: “Dr Daniel Hublet is a very active health alderman with whom I have often spoken. He has carried out prevention actions by organizing conferences, particularly on burn-out and diet. The municipality is fully in its preventive role and must not hesitate to take concrete actions. »

For him, the future of the municipality and the well-being of the population will also require greater attention to doctors: “We must allow general practitioners to better establish themselves in Uccle. The mayor was sensitive to this and put this point in his program. Other doctors appear on our list (Daniel Hublet, Patrick Zygas, Jean-Marie Nogaret and Dominique Haumont). »

Mental health

One aspect of health is particularly close to his heart: “We must continue the focus on mental health that we started with the health alderman. The different health actors must be integrated. In our program, we want to put in place support actions for people suffering from mental illnesses such as depression, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, etc. via information sessions which will be set up to better understand and understand mental health, with a special attention to young people. This affects me in my daily life. »

His ambition for this election is very clear: “Under this legislature, I have worked constructively to make things happen. I’m not looking for a job. I am already medical director of my center. I want to encourage useful actions to improve the health of the entire population, such as supporting all measures in favor of people with disabilities (including organization within schools and nurseries), early detection of different types of disability, raising awareness in schools about disability, but also improving accessibility to shops and for the elderly, particularly home help services to support their autonomy. »
