White plan launched in Briançon after the arrival of high school students suffering from vomiting

On Thursday, May 2, 29 Ile-de-France students were admitted to Briançon hospital (Hautes-Alpes). According to BFMTV, Nearly 121 people, including 115 high school students and six accompanying adults, took part in a green caving class in Vallouise-Pelvoux since April 30. Originally from Savigny-sur-Orge (Essonne), six students presented with stomach aches and vomiting during this first night in the center.

White plan: why was this system triggered?

To cope with this influx of patients, the Groupement Hospitalier de Territoire Alpes du Sud announced that it would trigger the white plan, “in order to guarantee continuity of care while ensuring management of the influx into emergency rooms”. This system brings together specific measures, which make it possible to obtain reinforcements in an exceptional health situation or increased activity within a health establishment.

The route of gastroenteritis is favored

To determine the origin of the contamination, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) and the Departmental Directorate of Employment, Labor, Solidarity and Population Protection (DDETSPP) opened a health investigation. The first analyzes have, for the moment, ruled out the hypothesis of a food poisoning, and the preferred avenue is therefore that of gastroenteritis. Additional analyzes are currently underway.

As indicated by the Hautes-Alpes prefecture, the first cases have already recovered and have been able to return to the holiday center. “It’s not a serious situation”, affirmed the hospital management. However, the establishment has called on Briançonnais as well as tourists not to go to the emergency room except in cases of vital emergency, because the service is still under pressure.
