Winner of the Thailand International Series in October thanks to two birdies on the last two holes, this 30-year-old Taiwanese player will make his debut on the very lucrative circuit financed by Saudi Arabia.
For its second edition, the LIV Golf promotion tournament had a surprise in store with the victory and qualification of a relatively anonymous player, Lee Chieh-po.
The 30-year-old player, who also goes by the name Max, is 223rd in the world and finished ahead of the 91 other players present in Ryhad for this qualifying event in a somewhat unusual format where a Frenchman and a Ryder Cup player lined up at departure.
Before this victory Lee Chieh-po only won one tournament on the Asian circuit. It was last October during the Thailand International Series in front of Peter Uihlein.
By winning two strokes ahead of Branden Grace et Taichi Correcthe is the first Taiwanese player to win his place on the LIV.
In addition to the title and the coveted place on the lucrative circuit, Lee pocketed the tidy sum of $200,000.
In addition, the first ten and ties in this promotion tournament obtained full playing rights for the 2025 International Series on the Asian circuit.
Six of them did not have a category: the American Ollie Schniederjans, the Australians Brett Coletta and Jack Buchanan, the German Max Rottluff, the Korean Soomin Lee and the Englishman David Horsey.
