Matthieu Pavon back in par but will still have to climb the rankings to score world points on Sunday

For the first time since the start of the tournament, the French number 1 managed to beat the Albany course in the Bahamas. Author of a card of 69 Matthieu Pavon returned to par total.

After two cards over par (74 and 73), Matthew Pavon was in last place after two laps. An unenviable position from which he managed to escape on Saturday thanks to a good return punctuated by three birdies.

Making clear progress on his second shots, the Bordelais reached 13 of the 18 greens in regulation and only conceded two bogeys in the 3rd round.

If Pavon reassured himself with this good card in conditions made difficult by the presence of a strong breeze, his progress in the ranking remains limited.

In fact, the winner of the Farmers Insurance Open at the end of January has only gained two places and finds himself on the eve of the last round in 18th place.

No points at all for the last three!

A place which if he kept it on the evening of the 4th round would not earn him any world points.

Indeed since this year and the establishment of Signature Eventsfor tournaments with less than 80 players a new formula better rewards the “top finishers” to the detriment of the players ranked at the back of the pack.

If we compare to last year when Tiger Woods had taken 18th place, the latter had received 2.4 points for his world ranking.

While this year players ranked higher than 17th place will not receive points. They will console themselves with a big check. Since even the last Sunday evening will still pocket the tidy sum of 120,000 dollars.
