A 61-year-old individual, hospitalized in a drunken state in Cambrai (Hauts-de-France), admitted to the murder of his partner in Vendée. He is in police custody.
A 61-year-old man admitted to having committed feminicide while he was in hospital with a high level of alcohol, more than 300 km away from the events.
Friday January 17 in the morning, this individual was at the Cambrai University Hospital (Hauts-de-France) and he revealed that he had killed his partner, at her home in Luçon, in Vendée, more than 600 kilometers away, reports Ouest- France.
The gendarmes went to the indicated location and made the macabre discovery of this 69-year-old lady on Friday afternoon.
The La Roche-sur-Yon public prosecutor's office opened an investigation and entrusted the research to the gendarmes while the suspect admitted the facts on Saturday during his police custody which continues this Sunday. He told the police that he had “strangled and suffocated on January 16 following an argument” reported the prosecutor of La Roche-sur-Yon.
-He should be indicted for “murder by spouse” which puts him at risk of life imprisonment.
In 2023, as a reminder, 96 women were victims of marital femicide in France, according to the latest report from the Ministry of the Interior made public at the end of November, a figure down 19% compared to 2022.
