The young Spanish prodigy had a hard time digesting his ouster from LIV . He will have to grow if he wants to get back to winning ways on a major circuit.

Eugenio Chacarra had everything to succeed. World number two amateur in 2022, he preferred to give up his last university year to sign with the LIFE Golf. Two months before, he announced that he would return for a fifth year at Oklahoma State, although he had qualified for the Korn Ferry Tour through the university ranking of PGA Tour.

At just 22 years old, he won a tournament in Bangkok, before winning the St Andrews Bay Championship on the Asian Tour in 2023. But since then, not much and in January 2025, his contract with the Fireballs of his compatriot Sergio Garcia was not renewed. Eugenio Chacarra chose not to participate in the event LIV Promotions last month to regain the right to play on LIV Golf.

He recently told Flushing It Golf that he was frustrated by LIV's inability to secure world ranking points or pathways to major tournaments. “None of that came to fruition. I trusted them,” he explained.

He also announced that his new goal was to get his PGA Tour card. “I see what it's like to win on the PGA Tour and how your life changes, how you get important access and ranking points, he added. On the LIV, nothing changes, there is only money. It doesn't matter if you finish 30th or first, it's just the money. I'm not a guy who wants more money. What will change my life is playing in Hawaii and qualifying for the Majors, the Masters and the Ryder Cup. »

Now I want to make golf history

We can understand his frustration, given that more or less big names less well placed than him on the LIV Golf Order of Merit were not ousted or rather, were reinstated after « relegation » : Martin KaymerSurratt, Matt Jones, Harold Varner III, Jinichiro Kozuma, Phil MickelsonMito Pereira, Branden Grace, Bubba WatsonAnthony Kim…

More Eugenio Chacarra still comes across as a “crybaby” (whiny) who spits in the (very rich) soup after having earned nearly 30 million dollars over his three seasons on LIV. “LIV gave me money that I never thought I could earn, it resolved my life and that of my descendants but now I want to make golf history,” he told the Spanish newspaper El Periodi Golf.

He will have to earn his place, like everyone else

Eugenio Chacarra is suspended from competitions PGA Tour until September 23. His suspension will expire before the start of the first stage of the Q-School, which he should be able to participate in because he made the cut in at least one DP World Tour tournament last year (Spanish Open and Andalucia Masters ). In the meantime, he will participate in tournaments in Asia while seeking exemptions on the DP World Tour.
