After two first rounds marred by too many errors (74, 73), Matthew Pavon had a better quality third round. This Saturday, the Bordeaux player returned a card of 69 (-3) on the course of the Albany Golf Clubhis best score of the week which he achieved thanks to a much more precise set of irons (72.22% of greens in regulation) and a more incisive putter (9th in Strokes Gained: Putting). After an excellent start with birdies at 2 and 3, he was able to stay the course despite a series of bogeys at 6 and 7, and ended up being rewarded for his patience with three birdies on the return, where he did not commit the slightest fault.
If the ranking beyond the first places is anecdotal in this tournament reduced to 20 players, Pavon nevertheless had the satisfaction of leaving the bottom of the table: here he is now 18th in the total par, and promised a final round in the second left with the American Sam Burns. Victory in this Hero World Challenge will probably be played between the leading trio, composed of Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler et Tom Kimwhich stand at -17, -16 and -15 respectively.
