Tennis: French nugget Ksenia Efremova supported by Maria Sharapova’s mentor

Sidelined for several months after an elbow injury, the young Franco-Russian Ksenia Efremova made her comeback at the US Open. Eliminated in the singles qualifiers, she can however count on the support of Maria Sharapova’s mentor, Sven Gröneveld. The latter has joined her clan, reports L’Équipe.

After skipping Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, Ksenia Efremova was present at the US Open for her return to competition. Injured in the elbow, she had to observe a forced rest period. During the American Major, the Russian, naturalized French, was eliminated in the first round of the singles qualifications.

I support Sven Gröneveld

However, The Team indicates that the latter will now be able to count on the support of Sven Gröneveld, famous mentor of a certain Maria Sharapova but also of Ana Ivanovic and Mary Pierce, the last French winner at Roland-Garros (2000).

He also coached Monica Seles and Roger Federer when he was a junior. Great references that could be useful for the young Ksenia Efremova, who has been heralded for months as a future star of the women’s circuit.
