Anne Hidalgo announces measures that may not please Parisians. The ring road will be reduced to 50 km/h in October, another measure, she wants to maintain the lanes previously reserved for the Olympic Games. All these measures are greeted with a certain skepticism.

These are announcements that will not please Parisians and even those from the Paris region. The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, announced that the ring road will be reduced to 50 km/h during the month of October and that the lanes reserved for the Olympic Games will be maintained at the end of the events. Announcements received with a certain skepticism by motorists.

“We have enough problems as it is.”

At the wheel of his taxi, Abdallah pouts when he learns that the maximum speed could increase to 50 km/h on the Paris ring road in less than two months: “In my opinion, they are pushing Parisians and people from the Paris region towards a mini-revolt, because it is just not feasible. We have enough problems as it is. If we talk about ecology, I don’t think we will pollute less. It will not bring the results that our dear mayor is hoping for in any case.”

A concern shared by Zacharia, who has been very angry with the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, since the pedestrianization of the riverbank roads: “It’s scandalous. Imagine at 50 km/h, there will be a 600-kilometer traffic jam. How will people manage to get to work?” A little further on, Antoine is filling up. The salesman spends long hours on the road and regrets the possible maintenance of reserved lanes.

“Basically, these were lanes intended for everyone. It has already restricted traffic. It is problematic and so if it stays like that, it is not possible.” Lanes that will be reserved in particular for carpooling motorists.
