“She cracked under the pressure,” her lawyer explains.

“It’s an unfortunate gesture.” Laurent Hazan, the lawyer for the teacher suspected of hitting a 3-year-old girl in Paris, rushed to his client’s aid, describing it as an “anecdotal case” and “sadly banal given the reality of the working conditions of many teachers in this country.”

“What is anecdotal is the breakdown of a teacher, a civil servant who today can no longer work in peaceful conditions,” he justifies on the set of BFM TV where he was invited this Thursday evening. And to emphasize: “She broke down under the pressure.”

“Suspended for four months”

On Wednesday, the teacher was filmed by a parent hitting the screaming, crying child in her classroom before pouring a bottle over her. The video was later released by the lawyer representing the girl’s family.

The teacher was “suspended for four months” as a precautionary measure, reveals Laurent Hazan, adding that she is “in a terrible state of shock”, fearing “for herself and her family”.

As for the little girl, “she’s really not well at all,” her mother told BFM. “She cries all the time. She throws things on the floor, she doesn’t want to play with her brothers.”
