OM confirmed the serious injury of Valentin Carboni19 years old, who suffers from cruciate ligament sprain of left knee. The young Argentinian, on loan from Inter Milan, was injured during training with his national team, which quickly ended his rally with the Albiceleste. Since his arrival in Ligue 1, Carboni had only participated in four matches in the Marseille jersey. The news, initially revealed by the Argentine press, was confirmed by the club, which also expressed its wishes for recovery for the player, announcing that he will undergo surgery followed by a suitable treatment protocol. The midfielder was selected with compatriots Geronimo Rulli and Leonardo Balerdi for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Venezuela and Bolivia. Loaned with a non-compulsory purchase option set at €36 million, Carboni now faces a long absence, leaving Marseille fans worried about his future with the team.
Pogba is not on the agenda
A transfer of Paul Pogba at OM seems unrealistic, especially because of his high salary (8 million euros net per year) and his status as an exceptional player when he is at his best. However, his return to Juventus turned into a nightmare, with only 12 games played since 2022, before being suspended for doping in September 2023, after testing positive for testosterone. His initial 4-year suspension, imposed by the Italian National Anti-Doping Agency, suggested an early end to his career. But, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced this sanction to 18 months, making it effective until March 11, 2025. Following this decision, rumors of a possible transfer to OM emerged, especially that Pogba has always displayed his affection for the club. However, the Marseille leaders remain detached and amused in the face of this media excitement. Although Juventus is seeking to part with the player, OM have not made any offer for the moment, even if contacts exist, notably through Medhi Benatiawho regularly exchanges with Pogba. However, the possibility of a transfer does not yet seem to be on the agenda.
