It is a refuge that has been in the sights of investigators for months. This Tuesday, we learned that two members of the Toulouse ATPA shelter (not affiliated with the SPA) were placed in police custody for alleged acts of mistreatment of animals.
A veterinarian and an employee
The Toulouse association “Les 4 pattounes” specifies to France Bleu Occitanie that the two people placed in police custody are a veterinarian and an employee of the shelter. They have been in the sights of the police since an investigation was opened last March for acts of cruelty after several reports of animals being beaten or illegally euthanized.
Last week, a dog was strangled to death during transport provided by the employee. He took the animal to the veterinarian, for an examination prior to adoption.
Demonstration at Place du Capitole
Last March, 140 people gathered at Place du Capitole in Toulouse to denounce “acts of mistreatment” within this shelter for dogs and cats run by the SPA-ATPA association. It is a structure independent of the national SPA network which welcomes around 230 dogs and 210 cats.
