Loïc, the apprentice builder of Notre-Dame: between passion and heritage

Flanked by a gargoyle that still needs to be imagined – the stone is at the spreading stage (preparatory size) – Loïc, 22, is passionate and exciting, on the “construction site village”, on the occasion of Heritage Days . He represents the Lefèvre company, responsible for the reconstruction of the cathedral’s vaults, and admits to being touched by the sometimes amazed curiosity of visitors for the know-how on display. Apprentice works manager, Loïc spent an enchanted year working for Notre-Dame, living perched on a promontory overlooking Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Notre-Dame as the first construction site

Fascinated by the work of the companions, Quasimodo 2.0 continues his training with a stonemason CAP. For the happy beginner, the site was “an extraordinary school. I measure this incredible luck… he said. Having started with Notre-Dame is an ideal apprenticeship! A pleasure site, but also meticulous: we have our noses in the concrete reality of the profession, but when the scaffolding comes down, and the vault is finally revealed, with its newfound color… We once again measure its historical significance, with the feeling gratifying to have left your mark there! »
