Difficult awakening for Bastien and his family this Wednesday morning in Devecey, near Besançon (Doubs). The town was once again affected by flooding and the night was long. He tried to save everything he could, but the water invaded the entire house. “The wooden furniture has taken well, a lot of electrical equipment also no longer works”he shows in the TF1 report at the top of this article.

They went to sleep at their neighbor’s house because the house is no longer habitable. The children’s bedrooms, the living room, the kitchen, everything took on water. “This morning, when we came into the house, it was a bit shocking. Yesterday, we had our feet in the water… but it was this morning that we realized that there was a lot of damage .And seeing mud all over the house is weird.” Stunned, Bastien looks for a solution to urgently find new accommodation with his family.

“The terrace… a swimming pool!”

Everything happened very quickly. Tuesday evening, after a day of rain, the stream overflowed and reached Jean-Marc’s house: “It’s like a torrent coming here. The manhole covers haven’t had time to drain.” He is still cleaning, but has already contacted his insurance because all his household appliances have taken on water. “I’m waiting for the expert who will come for the household appliances, I think they cost around €2,000…”

A little further on, Edwige had better luck. The water stopped just in time on his terrace. “The water rose, the entire terrace was completely flooded on one side and the other… A swimming pool!”

The mayor, Gérard Monnien, is angry because he asks for help from state services each time: “I am annoyed, because several times, I have called on the services to sit around a table and consider the solution that would allow these residents not to be worried every time it rains.”

He wrote a letter again this Wednesday morning to the prefect to find a solution and prevent this neighborhood from being flooded again.
