Di Meco wants to see Mbemba again

The 30-year-old Congolese has been sidelined from the professional squad since the start of the summer. At the end of his contract in June 2025, the central defender was placed on the transfer list, but did not find a buyer. Annoyed by his situation, Chancel Mbemba was laid off twice after an argument with a member of management and two questions posed to the medical staff.

Despite all this, Eric Di Meco believes that the player must return to the group, especially after the defeat in : “Yesterday (Sunday) evening, I had pain in my (Chancel) Mbemba. (Roberto) De Zerbi explains to us that (Pierre-Emile) Hojbjerg has already played in central defense at Tottenham and that for him two left-handed central defenders, (Derek) Cornelius and (Geoffrey) Kondogbia, it is not possible. But how can OM shoot themselves in the foot by having a guy like Mbemba who watches the match at home and who has always been there? »

In our opinion, it would be a strong admission of weakness to bring in an undesirable person, after having dismissed him and after his misconduct towards a leader. Not for the former Phocaean: “Even if he is no longer the Mbemba of the years in Porto who went at 2,000 an hour, he always did the job. He could have been of service. We want to part with him, the story is over, they want to sell him, but they haven’t sold him. Instead of making an experimental defense, I would have liked to see him on the ground”.

Except that management has put a principle before its sporting needs, here punctual – the defense is not decimated in the medium term. How to prove Pablo Longoria & co wrong?
