Have you noticed commonalities in the clips of Björk, Daft Punk, the White Stripes, IAM or even Kylie Minogue? This is due to the recognizable touch of Michel Gondry, director ofEternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. A documentary which, thanks to numerous testimonies, allows us to better understand the French poet-musician-director-mathematician.

At 11:20 p.m. on Arte. Documentary directed by François Nemeta (France, 2023). 1h25. Unpublished.

A Coppola and in bed: “Virgin Suicides”

Leslie Hayman, Kirsten Dunst, AJ Cook, Chelse Swain and Hannah Hall, the five sisters from “Virgin Suicide”. American Zoetrope – Muse – Eternity

Adapted from Jeffrey Eugenides’ novel of the same name, Virgin Suicides is Sofia Coppola’s first feature film. Noticed at the 1999 Film Festival, the film depicts the unhappiness of five teenage girls in puritanical America in the 1970s. As a bonus, the film’s soundtrack is by the French group Air, cocorico!

At 9:05 p.m. on France 5. Film directed by Sofia Coppola (USA, 1999). 1h35. With Kirsten Dunst, James Woods, Kathleen Turner. Rebroadcast.

For the whole family: “Matilda”

Rhea Perlman, Mara Wilson et Danny DeVito.
TriStar Pictures

Adapted from a novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda tells the story of a gifted little girl of the same name who, living with the horrible Thénardier family, discovers that she is in reality endowed with magical powers… A hilarious film to laugh with the family!

At 9:05 p.m. on Gulli. Film by Danny DeVito. Screenplay by Nicholas Kazan and Robin Swicord (USA, 1996). 1h40. Starring Mara Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman. Rebroadcast.

Bonus Gondry : “The We and the I”

Jonathan Ortiz, Teresa Lynn, Raymond Delgado et Michael Brodie.

Adolescence is a turbulent time. And that’s good, Michel Gondry films it as such, mainly filming in… a moving bus! Featuring beginner actors and a few improvised moments, The We and the I manages to capture the boiling essence of this turbulent period.

At 8:50 p.m. on TCM Cinema. Film directed by Michel Gondry (GB/ France/USA, 2012). 1h40. With Michael Brodie, Teresa Lynn, Alex Raul Barrios. Rebroadcast.
