“I am here”, the intact happiness of Louis Chedid

Louis Chedid has a subtle smile. That of a musician and a lyricist full of finesse and generosity, who knew how to be patient before knowing success, and who flourishes today through his thousand and one musical, literary, and cinematographic activities. While he celebrates this year the half-century of a career filled with commitment and passion, this endearing poet of French song announces the release of a new album whose cover illustrates once again his quiet radiance. Baptized Dreamer, Dreamer, This eighteenth long-format is expected on November 15th and could perhaps well constitute the final touch to a discography begun in 1973 with the aptly named Stuttering. But we are not there yet, and the author ofSo be it intends to take advantage of this new release today, which will lead him back on stage and to his audience in the coming months during a tour scheduled throughout France.

To keep us going until then, Louis Chedid is today unveiling a particularly benevolent first extract from his new album. Entitled I am here, This gentle song takes on the appearance of a comforting balm as the septuagenarian delivers a message of humanity that could not be more universal. “I’m always pleasantly surprised by the excitement I get when I’m playing guitar or piano and find a melody that catches my attention or scratch the paper looking for those notes I’ve composed,” confides the singer on this occasion. “People often tell me: ‘With the career you have, you have nothing left to prove.’ I tell them it’s quite the opposite.” QED.
