We have the impression, we have the illusion that he is declaring his candidacy for the presidential election. We can therefore legitimately ask ourselves why he is declaring himself a candidate for the presidential election today. In fact, the information is not there. The information is not in his candidacy for the presidential election. It lies in the fact that he is declaring himself a candidate for the next presidential election, and not that of 2027, implying that Emmanuel Macron could resign within a year or two, depending on the extent of the political crisis.

Finally, Edouard Philippe’s declaration to declare himself a candidate for the next presidential election is not so out of place. One might think that it is, but it comes in a context that makes sense. While Emmanuel Macron is embroiled in a serious political crisis, Edouard Philippe claims to be ready for all eventualities.

Edouard Philippe is being “Edouard Philippe”. He is repeating what he has always said: “I have a plan, I know where I’m going and trust me, no matter what happens, no matter what happens, I will go”. There were doubts, not necessarily in his first circle, but in his second, even in his third circle. People started to think that his attitude was strange, that he should have reacted in a certain way, that he should have done this or that, that he was absent, and that he had not been a candidate in the legislative elections… However, Philippe claims that he is counting on consistency and the long term to establish his status as a presidential candidate and prepare his future campaign.

Can bashing Emmanuel Macron bring anything to Edouard Philippe?

He says he remains consistent, that he has a program, and that in due time, it will be “massive.” In his interview with Le Point, he has not yet revealed this program and the Macronists have not failed to point the finger at him. However, he promises that it will come, in the weeks or months to come, and that this program will be important.

He says he will be there for the next presidential election. As for his relations with Emmanuel Macron… Very clearly, between Edouard Philippe and Emmanuel Macron, relations are now broken. Philippe is consulted on certain issues, such as the choice of Prime Minister. He is called, he answers. He is called, he comes, or he does not come, especially if he is abroad. In these cases, he sometimes simply answers the phone.

There is no longer any real relationship between the current President and his former Prime Minister. In Edouard Philippe’s immediate entourage, it is claimed that the Macronists have obtained only one thing: that Edouard Philippe now express himself freely. By dint of attacking him, he no longer owes anything to anyone… not even to Emmanuel Macron. He says what he thinks, notably in his interview with Le Point, where he does not hesitate, for example, to mention a possible resignation of Emmanuel Macron in the coming months.
