Florian Jouanny covered the 14.1 kilometres of the Clichy-sous-Bois course in 25’19″29. The Italian Luca Mazzone snatched second place from him by a few hundredths with a time of 25’18″83. These two men finished far behind the Spaniard Sergio Garrote, who won the gold medal. “I gave my all, others were better than me. I will try to do better tomorrow. I was perhaps too cautious because I was afraid of going to the mat on this somewhat dangerous course. I had the feeling of being at the maximum, in the last turn I was too cautious. The second one was easily there”, explained Florian Jouanny after his race.
