“I am so proud to join the great names of French sport”Lucas Mazur told franceinfo France on Tuesday, September 3, the day after his Paralympic victory in parabadminton. By beating Indian badminton player Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj in two sets (21-9, 21-13), the 26-year-old from Loire won a gold medal in the SL4 category, just a few hours after winning bronze in mixed doubles with Faustine Noël. “What a match, what a pleasure, what a joy to play at this level of play”he greets.

Lucas Mazur explains that before the Paris 2024 Games, he was “so disappointed and angry” against himself “not to have [décroché] fourth world title in Thailand a few months ago”. “I went back to training, I tried to move forward and it paid off”he boasts. The French badminton player is therefore “very happy to have pushed back [ses] limits and shown that[il était] able to dominate everyone”. He maintains that he remains “still a long way to go [à faire] to continue to break records and reach the top” and promises to “keep working” after a time of “repos”.
