The French para-table tennis player qualified for the semi-finals of the singles tournament on Tuesday, and will therefore be assured of a medal. The question remains as to the colour.

French para-table tennis player Fabien Lamirault, already bronzed in doubles, is assured of giving a second medal to France at the Paralympic Games after qualifying on Tuesday for the semi-finals in singles.

Double defending champion in singles in the MS2 category, in wheelchair, he beat the South Korean Jin Cheol Park (11-9, 11-9, 13-11) in the quarter-finals. In table tennis at the Paralympic Games, the two unfortunate semi-finalists each console themselves with a bronze medal.

At 44, this table tennis player is a veteran in the French delegation. His performance in Paris will allow him to increase his total to 8 medals in four participations.

He was one of five renowned para-athletes who lit the Olympic cauldron in the Tuileries Gardens during the opening ceremony.

It was in 1998, at the age of 17, that he became paraplegic following a road accident.
