After the dismissal of Professor Martin (neurosurgery) for managerial drifts and threatening behavior, a new file comes to shake the CHU de Liège. This time, it is the head of the dermatology department that is implicated. Three former assistants, two of whom left the hospital, accuse him of sexual harassment, moral harassment and racist words. The facts would go back to two years, but would have been reported until after their internship, for fear of reprisals.
The internal investigation, diligent by the rectrice Anne-Sophie Nyssen, was entrusted to the disciplinary committee of the University of Liège, which gathered a substantial file comprising 120 elements. The CHU, for its part, evokes a procedure under mediation before the Labor Court. Doctor Paul Massion, mandated to audit hospital services, highlighted a deficit in governance and transparency.
-The accusations relate to displaced gestures: setbacks, friction and unsolicited kisses, but also racist remarks towards assistants and patients. The incriminated professor argues clumsiness, claiming to be simply “tactile”, a defense supported by some colleagues. However, two complainants claim that he had resumed his behavior despite their explicit opposition. The file raises wider questions about the working climate within the CHU.
