The departments affected by the orange “storm” alert are the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Hautes-Pyrénées.

On its X account, Météo-France announced that two departments in the south of France would be placed on orange alert this Monday, September 2 from 8 p.m., due to the risk of “storms”. These are the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Hautes-Pyrénées.

The weather site specifies that storms will set in at the end of the day “on the relief of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Hautes-Pyrénées” and adds that we “expect strong rainy activity under these storms with intensities close to 40 mm/h and accumulations that could reach 40-60 mm in general, locally more”.

Further stormy weather conditions on the night of Monday to Tuesday

As for the night of Monday 2 to Tuesday 3 September, Météo-France points out that a stormy deterioration coming from Spain could join the storms already present.

“This stormy deterioration is associated with less marked precipitation in addition to the precipitation already fallen. This stormy rain system is evacuating at the end of the night by the East of the zone towards the Midi-Pyrénées region”he concluded.
