Uniform and ban on cell phones tested in some establishments

A chic return to school: schoolchildren from Limoges (Haute-Vienne) take part in a small fashion show, in order to try on their new uniform, before the start of the school year on Monday September 2. “Actually, I preferred my clothes.”confides a young girl. Polo shirt, jacket, trousers, Bermuda shorts and jogging pants… Their school is experimenting with the compulsory wearing of uniforms. The municipality and the State finance the clothes, which is a good initiative for some parents.

If the uniform arrives at school, the mobile phone will no longer be welcome at college. Although banned in class, it often reappears at recess. 200 colleges in France will therefore conduct an experiment where the mobile phone will be stored in a locker, as is already done at an establishment in Lorient (Morbihan). “I am more focused in class than before”observes a student. The cellphone-free college could become widespread in all establishments in January 2025.
