      our
      outlook
      changes”

INTERVIEW. Sports journalist Alexandre Boyon, a specialist in athletics and swimming for over 25 years, is unanimous in his comments on the Paris 2024 Games. He answered questions from Tele-Leisure.

From swimming and athletics events to the opening and closing ceremonies, Alexandre Boyon is at the heart of France Télévisions’ plan during the period of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. At 58, this former rowing hopeful has made us vibrate to the rhythm of French successes in the pools, led by Léon Marchand. His deep, recognizable voice has become essential music to the public’s ears. A workaholic and hypermnesic, the sports journalist swallows figures, statistics, records and the strengths of athletes. This is Alexandre Boyon’s recipe: “Having the right information at the right time.” And if possible, slip in a little punchline on the air with the most beautiful effect! Educational and precise, the Parisian was praised by viewers for his work on the Olympic Games. Since August 28, he has been enlightening the public of the para-swimming events with the same enthusiasm.

Alexandre Boyon: “With these Games, we are experiencing an enchanted interlude”

Tele-Leisure : In what frame of mind are you approaching these Paralympic Games?
Alexandre Boyon:
We’re going to have a great time! We can be proud that the same resources are being put into the Paralympic Games as into the Olympic Games. I wish our outlook would change and that the Paras have an impact on our society. They are top athletes competing against other top athletes. People will discover athletes and not people with disabilities who play sports.

Who are the French swimmers to follow?
We could make an extraordinary raid thanks to Ugo Didier, Alex Portal or even Dimitri Granjux who is starting to blossom…

“I was spoiled” : Alexandre Boyon is delighted to commentate on the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

What is your assessment of the Olympic Games?
I was spoiled
commenting on the races of an exceptional champion, Léon Marchand. Since the end of July, we have been living in France in an enchanted interlude which, I hope, will not close.

What are the qualities of a good commentator?
Having a complementarity with the consultants, a recognizable voice and above all passion. I consider myself a passionate commentator and I hope to be equally exciting.
