In terms of psychological horror – fifteen years after its release – Black Swan remains a reference! This feature film, directed by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream), features a prima ballerina played by Natalie Portman (Star Wars). Roughly speaking, this ballet tells the story of a prince who falls in love with a princess imprisoned in the guise of a white swan, due to bad luck. In short, all this to say that in Swan Lake, the main character is often the subject of two distinct roles. But in the modern production of Black Swan, carried by a director played by Vincent Cassel, these two facets are brought together in a single role… While the grace of the white swan poses no problem for Natalie Portman’s character, the black swan, conversely, demands a letting go to which the young woman is not accustomed. What’s more, she’s not the only one who wants to be at the top of the bill. This whirlwind will plunge the dancer into a madness where the music, the staging and the fantastic dictate their rules.
