Since the announcement of the death of Michel Blanc made this Friday, October 4, the tributes continue to rain towards this French actor, known both for his comedic but also dramatic roles. His former colleagues from the troupe Splendid mourn him, like his neighbors in the 4th arrondissement of . But in this concert of praise, there is also a dissonant voice.

This is that of René-Marc Bini. This name is not necessarily the best known to the general public but his work has touched many French spectators. Since the 1990s, he composes music for films and series. We can cite to his credit the music of the film Liberté-Oléron directed by Bruno Podalydès. “An atypical film in which he had a lot of fun” tells the musician to the specialized site They play cinema. A pleasant and fruitful collaboration… very different from the one he experienced with Michel Blanc.

Michel Blanc, a difficult director?

While recalling that the film on which they collaborated, Serious Fatigue, is a work “great”, the musician admits to having experienced some difficulties during filming. For the first time, René-Marc Bini stepped outside of his close circle to work with a well-known director. “It wasn’t intimidating but it was difficult.” notes the composer, always They play cinema.

The musician explains that Michel Blanc’s confidence only really came at the end of filming. Far from being a tyrantit would rather be the disordered side of the actor of the Splendid who would have disconcerted his colleague. “He didn’t know at all what he wanted, he spent his time telling me that I had to pay attention to the music, because in a comedy the music is difficult, that we don’t have the right to do something that’s emotional, because it breaks the comedy” he describes.

René-Marc Bini doesn’t want it though to its director. “His distrust was not a distrust of me, it was in relation to the music, it was nothing personal. It’s just a shame not to move forward hand in hand in something. I I spent a lot of time proposing things that were very different from each other. I even suggested a Spanish bolero that seemed to please him. Then finally I put it in a drawer. he tempers like this.

However, working with someone the composer considered to be someone “very bright and intelligent” and for whom he had admiration will remain, according to him, an honor, even if this experience was undoubtedly not easy.
