“Our Moroccan News” learned from reliable artistic sources the news of the death of the distinguished actress Naima Al-Mashriqi, today, Saturday, October 5, at the age of 81 years.

The late Naima Al-Mashriqi is considered one of the most prominent artistic figures in Morocco, as she demonstrated an exceptional talent in theater through her participation in many plays alongside the most famous theater groups in the Kingdom, such as Al-Maamoura Troupe, Basateen, Al-Ans Theater, and the Moroccan Radio and Television Troupe.

The late woman received many honors throughout her artistic career, including the award for best vocal performance in the series “Amina” during the Arab Radio Festival in Cairo in 1998. Since 1964, the artist has continued to appear on television through programs and series, as she was the first actress to play a female role. In the series “Ram Dam Family”. She also participated in more than 20 international films between Italian and French, in addition to Moroccan films such as “Blood Wedding,” “Faten,” “The Battle of the Three Kings,” “Lalla Habibi,” and “Swallow Alley.”

Naima Al-Mashriqi was not limited to her artistic career, but she was also a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, an advisor to the National Observatory for Child Rights, and vice-president of the National Syndicate of Theater Professionals, which makes her passing a great loss to the artistic and cultural scene in Morocco.
