The Casino brandoverwhelmed by debts, was forced to sell all of its approximately 300 hypermarkets and supermarkets. Between this Monday, September 30 and October 5 2024, 22 stores must permanently close their doors.
In Moissac, the hypermarket closes at the end of the week
Located on Avenue Victor-Hugo, very close to the city center, the hypermarket of Moissac (Tarn-et-Garonne) will definitely lower the curtain this Saturday, October 5.
In total, the Casino group has sold more than 300 stores in hypermarket and supermarket formats. In 2024, 164 stores were sold to Intermarché (Groupement les Mousquetaires), 96 stores to Auchan and 18 stores to its Corsican subsidiary, Rocca. Finally, 23 stores were sold to Carrefour.
The job protection plan, formalized in April, is the subject of a legal appeal by the unions. The hearing is scheduled to take place on October 23.
Three closures in Occitania
In Occitania, of the 43 Casino stores, 40 were taken over by another group and three will close permanently.
This September 30, the hypermarket Montpellier Odysseum closes its doors and on October 5, it will be the turn of the Moissac and Toulouse Basso Cambo.
Finally, note that local stores such as Casino Shop, Le Petit Casino, SPAR or Vival, as well as the site mescoursesdeproximité.com are not affected by this restructuring.
