PSN down? PS Plus not recognized? Current server disruptions

If you want to start an online session on your PlayStation 4 or PS5, you need to access the PlayStation Network (PSN). However, there are always phases when access to Sony’s online services is not possible and the PSN is down. Here’s what to do if PSN is offline and how to check if PlayStation 5 online services are offline.

If the PSN is down, users will not be able to log into Sony’s online service. Players in an active online session will be kicked out of the game.

Is the PSN down? Current disruptions (October 1, 2024)

In the night from September to October there was a massive increase in reports that players could no longer log into the PlayStation Network (see: alletreib.de). Sony is also currently reporting on its website that there are supposed to be problems with some services: PSN service status.

At the same time, there are the first success reports on Twitter (formerly X) that people were able to successfully log in again. If you haven’t gotten in yet, try restarting your console now or wait and keep an eye on the server status on the official site.

PS Plus: Login not possible, PS Plus is not recognized – you are not alone

This makes it easy to determine whether the downtime is a major disruption or an individual problem. Even if reports on Twitter are piling up, this is an indication that Sony’s online services are down. In this case, you don’t have much choice but to wait until the problems are resolved.

Additionally, there may be other issues that are causing you to be unable to connect to PlayStation Network. You can check the PSN server status on Sony’s website. Take a look at this too on the official PlayStation Germany Twitter channel.
