Third-ranked Carlos Alcaraz recorded a 7-5, 6-2 victory over seventh seed Karen Khachanov of Russia to advance to the semifinals of the China Open on Monday in Beijing.

The Spaniard will face third seeded Russian Daniil Medvedev, who hit five aces on his way to a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Italian Flavio Cobolli.

On the same Monday, the fourth seed, Andrey Rublev, defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4, 7-5 in a match that had to be postponed due to rain. However, Rublev could not prolong his good luck and fell to the Chinese guest Bu Yunchaokete.

Yanchaokete will have a tough task in the next round against top seed Jannik Sinner, who earned a 6-2, 7-6 (8) victory over Czech Jiri Hecka.
