As you will see, the XTL offers a lot of advantages. With all the same a shadow on the board, its price.

XTL diesel: what is it?

Recently available, this new fuel is also called Diesel HVO 100. Its main advantage is that it is less polluting than the diesel that we already find in our service stations.
According to Altens, French suppliers of a range of alternative fuels for the transport sector, XTL helps reduce CO2 emissions by 90% vehicles using it. Concerning fine particles, the latter can be reduced by almost 65%. Good news when we know that fine particles are very dangerous for health.
With a manufacturing process similar to hydrogen, Diesel HVO 100 has the particularity of being produced from waste such as used oil or animal fat.
Obviously, as we mentioned above, the XTL does not only have advantages. In fact, at the pump, Diesel HVO 100 is more expensive than basic diesel. On average, the liter costs 10 to 20 cents more expensive.
To find out if your car is compatible with this new fuel, a list of compatible vehicles has been published in the Official Journal dating from July 2, 2024.
