“The Manif pour tous” in government? Michel Barnier ordered to “clarify” his societal project
“Against marriage for all, the opening of medically assisted procreation to lesbian couples, the ban on conversion therapy, the constitutionalization of abortion or the rights of trans people… And sometimes against all of these at the same time” : the SOS Homophobie association expressed its “deep indignation” by discovering the names of certain ministers.
For Jean-Luc Romero-Michel, LGBT and pro-euthanasia activist, it is “the return of the Manif pour tous”this collective which campaigned against same-sex marriage more than ten years ago. “Never since (…)a government will never have had so many ministers opposed to equal rights!protests X, the Paris mayor’s deputy for human rights.
The same bewildered reaction from feminist activist Caroline de Haas on X: “We have the Manif pour tous on the interior, on agriculture, on higher education, on the fight against discrimination and on consumption. It’s astounding.”
“What worries us is the mass of people with very conservative positions (…). The risk is to attack previously acquired rights”the president of SOS Homophobie, Julia Torlet, told Agence France-Presse.
The Association for the Right to Die with Dignity (ADMD) has also “required” there “resumption of discussion on the bill without delay” which was particularly virulently opposed by Bruno Retailleau, the new Minister of the Interior, who led the battle against the inclusion of abortion in the Constitution and was particularly targeted by associations.
