France Inter dominates podcast listening in July 2024, according to Médiamétrie

Médiamétrie’s latest report on podcast listening for the month of July 2024 reveals a clear dominance of France Inter, with 36.5 million listens, which places it well at the top of podcast publishing brands in France. Flagship shows such as “Affaires sensibles” and “L’instant M” continue to capture the public’s attention, contributing significantly to these results.

RMC ranks second with 24.7 million listens, driven by popular content such as “After Foot” and “Super Moscato Show.” France Culture comes in third, totaling 22.5 million listens, with a loyal audience for programs such as “Les Chemins de la Philosophie” and “Le Cours de l’Histoire.”

In the ranking of the most listened to individual podcasts, RMC’s “L’After Foot” stands out with nearly 14.9 million listens, confirming the public’s attraction to sports discussions. RTL follows with “Les Grosses Têtes”, recording more than 9.7 million listens. “Affaires sensibles”, another France Inter program, completes the podcast podium, with 6.4 million listens.

Europe 1, although less listened to in total volume compared to its competitors, nevertheless places “Hondelatte raconte” in the top 5 podcasts, with nearly 6 million listens. RMC consolidates its presence in the ranking with “Les Grandes Gueules”, which attracts 5.5 million listens, highlighting the effectiveness of its debate and opinion shows.

In terms of content diversity, the report also highlights the performance of France Télévisions, whose podcast “C dans l’air” is among the 10 most listened to programs. This positioning reflects the ability of public television to also assert itself on the audio format.

Finally, Médiamétrie highlights the rise of certain more specific podcasts, such as “Le Cours de l’histoire” from France Culture and “Les pieds sur terre” from France Inter, which continue to attract an attentive and engaged audience.
