The Var, Alpes-Maritimes and Manche are placed on orange alert by Météo-France.

The Var and the Alpes-Maritimes, for rain-flooding and storms, as well as the Manche, for rain-flooding only, are placed on orange alert this Sunday, September 8 until at least 6 p.m., Météo-France announced in its 6 a.m. bulletin.

The rain and flood warnings start at 6 a.m. and the storm warning will start around 10 a.m., according to the forecaster, who predicts an end to both warnings at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Drôme and Ardèche return to yellow

In orange on Saturday, Drôme and Ardèche will return to yellow alert this Sunday.

The active rain and storm front in the Rhône Valley was very intense, with the public establishment recording accumulations of 125.1 millimetres in Lablachère, 124.6 in Les Vans and 120 in La Souche, in Ardèche.

This front is shifting towards the north while weakening, explains Météo-France. However, another deterioration is approaching the Channel.

Heavy and long-lasting downpours are expected, with 40 to 50 millimetres of rain over the entire episode, up to 60 millimetres locally, Météo-France also warns.

At 6am, the forecaster is not announcing any orange alerts for Monday. Only six departments in the South appear in yellow for flood risks.
