A spectacular traffic accident occurred this Friday afternoon, September 6, at La Borde Basse in Castres. A car ended up in the lake with four occupants on board. One of them fled, two others were seriously injured.

The images of the wooden safety barrier, part of which was literally blown away, bear witness to the violence of the impact that occurred on Friday, September 6, shortly before 4 p.m., at Borde Basse in Castres. A Renault car left the road and ended up in the lake. There were four occupants on board. According to our information, the driver fled before the emergency services arrived. A 22-year-old person emerged unharmed and the two other passengers – two men aged 18 and 25 – were seriously injured and taken care of by the firefighters as a matter of urgency. The exact circumstances of this accident are still unknown, but the road that goes around the lake is known to be a place where vehicles drive at high speed. A police investigation has been opened. The sub-prefect, Laurent Gandra-Moreno, went to the scene. A nautical team of firefighters was engaged to determine the possible risks of pollution linked to the immersion of the vehicle. It had to be extracted from the water.
