Ferrari has unveiled its livery for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza. After the overalls seen yesterday, some were expecting an all-black livery for the Scuderia for its home race.

Obviously, this will not be the case, since red still retains the predominance on the Ferrari livery, as we saw in Miami at the start of the season, in Las Vegas last year, or even during the last two Italian Grands Prix to date.

This time, the changes are even more minimal, as the SF-24s are adorned with black numbers and a carbon-coloured lower wing on the front wing. It is a celebration of this crucial material in F1 safety that the Scuderia wanted to make on home soil.

Ferrari recalls that carbon fiber was first produced in 1958 in the United States and developed in Japan until its use in 1982 for the first time by the Scuderia, in order to reinforce the aluminum chassis of its 126 C2.

It was the following year that the first carbon monocoque was introduced on the 126 C3, and Ferrari recalls that carbon then became a predominant material on the bodywork, suspensions and even gearbox protection.

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz’s helmets will also feature sections where bare carbon appears. A joint initiative made with their helmet supplier, Bell. Yellow will be the only other colour on their helmets, to celebrate the colours of Ferrari and Modena.
