Williams has announced the arrival of the highly experienced Oliver Turvey as its new test and development driver. The British team specified that Turvey will play a key role in development programs and simulation operations, in order to support Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, the incumbent driver duo.
One of his main tasks will be to contribute to the development of Williams' new state-of-the-art simulator, which is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
At 37, Turvey has a rich and varied career in motorsport. Winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 in the LMP2 category, he also raced in Formula E and Super GT. Above all, he benefits from extensive experience in F1, having spent 15 years as a test and development driver at McLaren.
Reflecting on his delight at joining Williams, Turvey said: “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to join such a historic and successful team.”
