Formula 1 | Williams announces Oliver Turvey as development driver

Williams has announced the appointment of Oliver Turvey as the team's new test and development driver. The Briton, who spent 15 years as a development driver for McLaren, joins the Grove team to become a tester, particularly in the simulator.

“I am delighted to join Williams. “The ambition and determination behind this project is incredibly inspiring, and I look forward to the challenge ahead of me to help the team get back to the top. It’s a privilege to work alongside Alex [Albon] you are from Carlos [Sainz]who I consider to be two of the best drivers in F1.”

“I look forward to using my experience as a driver and engineer to work closely with the team to improve the car's performance in the simulator and support the racing team. I am keen to thank James, Sven and the board for trusting me. I will give everything I have to help the team succeed.”

Sven Smeets, sporting director of the team, welcomed this recruitment: “We are very pleased to welcome Oliver to the team. He brings a great amount of experience and expertise which will be invaluable to our progression as we continue to strengthen the team at all levels.”
