Formula 1 | Haas will field a modified 2024 single-seater this season

In order to better prepare for 2026 and preserve the maximum budget for the season of the new regulations which are coming, many Formula 1 teams will field this year single-seaters very directly derived from those they had in 2024.

This is the prediction of Haas technical director, Andrea De Zordo, who succeeded Simone Resta, who left for Mercedes F1, also explaining the choices of the American team.

So Haas will use “the same chassis in 2025, and much of the existing bodywork in 2024 served as a direct basis for the development of the VF-25”.

The Italian therefore thinks that “Other teams will follow the same path. And we would be surprised if they don't.”

Some teams, including high-profile players like Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull, have stressed that even as the huge technical revolution of 2026 looms, they will still unveil significantly modified single-seaters this year.

But de Zordo says it's a different story for smaller teams like Haas F1.

“The challenge for 2026 is extremely great and we must somehow save elsewhere, not only financially but also for our own human resources.”
