Gasly sets a crazy record, the Frenchman proves his immense talent

Pierre Gasly reinforces the paradox about him. Constantly at the level in “intermediate” teams, the Frenchman missed the mark when he was promoted to Red Bull, quickly being demoted. This season, despite performances well below the competition for Alpine, Gasly managed to do well, finishing in tenth place in the drivers’ standings and achieving several big successes. He thus managed to get on the podium of the Brazilian Grand Prix just behind Esteban Ocon in a crazy race. With this performance, he became the first driver to have five career podiums in teams not among the top five on the grid. For Motorsportthe Frenchman returned to the meaning of this statistic: “I saw a stat the other day that said I was the only driver to get five podiums with teams outside the top 5. That’s kind of the story of my career right now. When you’re racing mid-pack cars, you have opportunities at some point every year. There are one or two races where everything opens up and you have to show up and be the one to take those opportunities. »

Gasly focus sur 2026

From now on, Pierre Gasly hopes to be able to obtain a single-seater allowing him to finally aim for the top of the table: “I just want a car that lets me repeat it more often. I think […] that you always have to prove yourself and I think that ultimately if we had a car competitive enough to get these positions more frequently, I could show that I feel ready enough to fight for these positions more regular. But that’s another story. Right now I’m struggling with the car I have. The car of [2025] will be stronger and I obviously have my eyes on the 2026 season, because I know it will be a great opportunity for the team. » It may be difficult for this season, but Gasly is looking forward to 2026 and the change in regulations.
