The 2025 season, the second of the Prototype Winter Series, will once again see the participation of the main LMP3 teams over four events. The second generation LMP3s will be the protagonists of the events, while the first generation cars will be integrated into their own category, called Gen 1. We will thus be able to hear the 5.0 and 5.6 liter V8s roar between Portugal and Portugal. Spain.
Each weekend will feature two 50-minute races with mandatory pit stops, the duration of which will depend on the caliber of the drivers. First round from January 16 to 19 in Estoril, before a trip to Portimão from January 23 to 26. The championship, organized with the blessing of the ACO, will then take a break to coincide with the end of the Asian Le Mans Series in February. The final two rounds of the season will take place from February 27 to March 2 at MotorLand Aragón, before the finale in Barcelona from March 6 to 9.
The teams will announce their drivers in the coming weeks, but we already know that the 2024 leaders, Konrad Motorsport and Rinaldi Racing, will be joined by other renowned teams in the world of endurance. These include CLX Motorsport (formerly Cool Racing), DKR Engineering and Racing Spirit of Leman. The starting grid for the Prototype Winter Series is expected to be made up of ten to 15 cars, with an equal split between the Duqueine D08s and the Ligier JSP320s, all fitted with Michelin tires.
Like every Winter Series race, these will be broadcast live on YouTube, with commentary from experts such as Andy McEwen, Isi Browning, Andy Mather and Adam Weller during the broadcast produced by Alpha Live.
