No offense to some people Fernando Alonso will be on the F1 grid in 2025 and 2026, with Aston Martin. According to his manager, Flavio Briatore, the Spaniard is still hungry for titles and victories and could well retire with a third coronation.
The native of Oviedo will therefore collaborate with Adrian Newey, who will join Aston Martin in 2025 as main technical partner. This strategic reinforcement will add to the strong investments of Aston Martin, which will become the Honda factory team in 2026 thanks to an exclusive engine partnership with the Japanese brand.
At 45, Alonso will therefore continue his career in Formula 1, once again pushing the limits in a sport dominated by a new generation of drivers. As a reminder, next season, Fernando Alonso will share the grid with six or even seven drivers who were not born when he started his career in F1.

Flavio Briatore, close to the Spanish driver, said he was confident about Fernando Alonso’s ability to continue to surprise and compete at the highest level in an increasingly competitive environment.
“Fernando is the exception” said Briatore. “I have been his manager for 22 years. He has money, but no children. And he’s always hungry.”
“If he finishes 14th, he wants to be 13th. Someone else his age would be doing his job properly if it was just 14th place.”
“I now have two impressions in mind. On the one hand, I hope that Fernando can make a fresh start with Adrian Newey at Aston Martin in 2026, but on the other hand, he is racing against Alpine.”
“But all the same, wouldn’t a world champion title as a farewell be a magnificent story?” concluded Flavio Briatore.
