Alpine F1 had its most prolific weekend of the season in São Paulo, becoming only the fourth team to score a double podium in 2024. The Enstone-based F1 team's last was at the South Korean Grand Prix 2013 with Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean.
Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly signed the first double French podium in twenty-seven years. At the time, Olivier Panis and Jean Alesi were both on the podium at the 1997 Spanish Grand Prix, the year after Esteban and Pierre were born!
Ocon looks back on this memorable weekend and turns to Las Vegas with obviously renewed desire… especially since the Frenchman had shone there in 2023.
“The São Paulo weekend was incredible and we still feel like we lived a daydream.”
“We've had a difficult year as a team, so this double podium was great while clearly leaving everyone wanting more. The team worked hard to achieve this result, and I'm proud that they all put their heart into the work, both on the track and in the two factories. We achieved very positive qualifying to be well placed for the future. We then maximized everything in the race, showing exactly what we needed. we are capable in mixed conditions, and we came away with a nice haul of points.”
“We now hope to carry this appetite and momentum into the final three events of the season to finish on a high note together.”
“We're returning to Las Vegas for a second year, and I'm really looking forward to it. We had a great result there, moving up from sixteenth to fourth place last year. The track is incredible with all the drivers flat out on a high percentage of each lap. Driving in the heart of the city is a unique experience. There are night races under the lights, and there is one under the lights of Vegas. of São Paulo and to maximize the weekend to maintain our sixth position in the championship.”
