After an excellent critical work on the electric automobile – which put the church in the middle of the village -, Nicolas Meunier treated us to two opuses on Supercars as well as a book on popular automobiles where nostalgia made us say: “It was better before.”
This year, he comes to delight us with a “beautiful book” dedicated to the history of F1 through the most legendary models of this discipline.
Here, we forget the drivers and the notable figures of this sport to concentrate on the cars.
The technique is highlighted. Normal, Nicolas Meunier is an engineer. From 1950 to 2020, it is a faithful portrait of the most beautiful machines in the F1 World Championship that is painted for us in the more than 200 pages of this work.
We appreciate the magnificent iconography – which is not limited to a few bad cut-out photos or copies of catalogs. The layout is neat and each model, in addition to a text retracing its history, is accompanied by a technical sheet as well as its results in the F1 World Championship.
We thus review the big stars of Formula 1 from the Lancia D50 to the McLaren MP4 via the Tyrrell P34 or the Ferrari 312T2.
Beyond a coffee table book, Nicolas Meunier's “Mythical Formula 1” is a reference work that fans will need to consult regularly.
