Associated with the production of the film, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton made a decisive contribution during editing by correcting certain technical or factual errors.
Disrupted by the screenwriters' and actors' strikes in the fall of 2023, filming took place throughout the season and will end on the evening of the last Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.
To ensure its release next summer, however, the production has already started editing the various scenes and the view of co-producer Lewis Hamilton was welcome.
At a press conference on the eve of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, producer Jerry Bruckheimer spoke about the film alongside resigning Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei.
Technical and sporting instructions
“Lewis saw some of the film and gave us a critique of how the pilots do different things, explained Bruckheimer. The level of precision he gave us, for example like at Silverstone in turn 3, you're in second gear, and he could hear with his ear that Brad Pitt was in third gear. A technical correction therefore.”
“He also gave sporting instructions, like in Singapore where it is very hot and humid where he can barely get out of the car after the race, he added. The pilots lose 5 kilos, not just him, it's valid for all of them. They are completely exhausted and we are going to show on screen what it takes to be an F1 driver.”
Promotion in spring, release in summer 2025
“Everything he brought to this film, I can't even express our thanks to him and all the people in F1 who made it all possible, he pointed out. Sometimes we don't like to hear what he says because it costs us more money to redo things, but we want it to be flawless and he helps us achieve that goal.”
Final editing will take place this winter for a promotional period planned for the spring, with a private viewing planned in Monaco for F1 drivers and teams. Then, previews will be organized in New York and in several major European cities in the presence of Lewis Hamilton and lead actor Brad Pitt (photo above).
