Oscar Piastri is currently the only representative of Australia on the starting grid but Oceania can also count on the presence of Liam Lawson, the New Zealander, RB F1 driver. And in 2025, Jack Doohan, another Australian, will join the ranks.
Lawson could also find himself at Red Bull in 2025 and be in direct competition with the McLaren driver, if the forces involved remain similar.
The opportunity to develop a rivalry and a little battle to know who is the best in this region of the globe?
“I hope not! If he stays at RB F1, with the differences in performance of the cars, if we are rivals on track, then something is going very well for one of us or very bad for the other. “
“You know, he was a strong competitor in the junior race when we were riding together, so we'll see what he's capable of.”
“And if he can join Red Bull afterwards, he will have deserved it.”
Is Piastri already making his compatriots forget Daniel Ricciardo? Has he felt more media pressure since his departure?
“I wouldn't say I feel too much extra pressure, no. It's sad that Daniel is no longer on the grid. He was an incredible guy, someone I looked up to watching F1. It's sad to see him go.”
“Of course, this gives Liam a great opportunity to show what he can do in F1 again. Unfortunately, for better or worse, that's the nature of the sport.”
“So I don't think it adds too much pressure. There's someone coming from the country next to Australia to replace him. I get on well with Liam, I've raced with him before through the past, but it's always nice to have compatriots on the grid.”
“With Jack, we will make a good trio in 2025 and I hope we will make our region of the planet proud. I feel less alone representing Oceania in F1.”
