Red Bull reportedly looking to sign Carlos Sainz

The transfer market could be lively again in Formula 1 as it is rumored that Red Bull would seek to recruit Carlos Sainz to replace Sergio Pérez.

The world of Formula 1 is in turmoil following the recent visit of Red Bull team principal Christian Horner to the Williams team facilities during the Brazilian Grand Prix this Friday.

This unexpected trip raised numerous speculations about the reasons for this meeting with James Vowles, the director of Williams, with some seeing it as an attempt at negotiation for the young Argentine driver Franco Colapinto.

An imminent departure for Sergio Pérez?

As the end of this 2024 season approaches, Sergio Pérez's future at Red Bull seems increasingly uncertain. Liam Lawson, currently in the middle of an audition with Racing Bulls, has made a strong impression and could well be tipped to replace the Mexican driver.

If Lawson joins the first team, a place would become available in the junior team, where Yuki Tsunoda is already confirmed. Franco Colapinto, a young Argentinian talent, is considered for this position alongside Tsunoda, as is the Frenchman Isack Hadjar.

Franco Colapinto: A reveal of the 2024 season

At just 21 years old, Franco Colapinto is already establishing himself as one of the rising stars of the 2024 season. Arriving in Formula 1 last August to replace Logan Sargeant, he quickly demonstrated his potential by scoring five points in his five first races, without ever finishing beyond 12th place.

However, despite his performances, Williams does not appear to be able to offer him a permanent seat in 2025, with the place already reserved for Carlos Sainz, who will team up with Alex Albon.

Red Bull is rumored to have offered Williams £15 million to sign Colapinto. However, Vowles, the Williams director, is said to be more in favor of a loan deal, although this would not be the most attractive solution for other interested teams.

Carlos Sainz at Red Bull? A surprising rumor emerges

While attention was focused on Colapinto, a surprising revelation came to change the situation this weekend in the Sao Paulo paddock. Argentinian journalist Jorge Legnani, associated with the media Championsrelayed information from his colleague Orlando Rios.

According to the latter, Brazilian sources claim that Horner was not only in negotiations for Colapinto, but that he was also discussing a potential transfer of Carlos Sainz to Red Bull! This unexpected news is intriguing, especially since Sainz has already signed a contract with Williams for the 2025 F1 season, but with exit clauses.

As negotiations continue and rumors multiply, the dynamic between Red Bull, Williams and F1's young talents promises many surprises. Carlos Sainz's possible move to Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen could shake up next season's starting grid, leaving Colapinto, Lawson and other hopefuls searching for their place in this game of musical chairs.
